I've been meaning to write an "about me" page for a long time now, but never got around to it. For those interested, here goes...

As you may be able to tell from the photos on this site, I have a wife called Charlotte (she prefers Charlie) and two children called Faith and Ethan. Charlie and I got married on the 21st of May 2005. We also have a cat called Millie.

Charlie's family live around the Wokingham area, which is were I spent most of my early life. My Mum, Dad and Sister live in a lovely house in Cornwall which is where we spend a lot of our holidays.

I am 31 years old, and I live with my family in Stratton, just on the outskirts of Swindon in the UK. I am IT Manager for a company called Innovision Research & Technology Plc based in Cirencester. I recently qualified as a Red Hat Certified Engineer, which was a lot of hard work, but well worth it!

My main interest is computers, and my operating system of choice is Debian GNU/Linux. I have quite a few computers on my home network. My server is called hal (yes, after the hal9000 computer in the film 2001: A Space Odyssey), and amongst the normal things you would expect a server to do, it also runs this web site and a few others. I have a nice fast desktop (Athlon 2500+ 512M DDR-400) called zion, and an IBM Thinkpad X40 (courtesy of work) called vimes. All my home computers run Linux, and my house is a M$ free zone :-)

As of January 2005 I also have an IBM Netfinity 5000 server which I am currently testing and setting up to replace hal as my main server. If you are interested, you can read more about it here: IBM Netfinity 5000
